Inmate Transfer Policies

Policies For Inmate Transfers In & Out Of AJDC

Due to abuse of our willingness to do transfers in/out of AJDC as of late, new policies regarding transfers are being put into place as of 8/4/2013.

Transfers require the approval of Head Wardens and/or Judges at both facilities, and must be scheduled ahead of time.  Transfers are time consuming to both facilities, and as such are not to be taken lightly.

Discussion should be had with the inmate being transferred about the difference in rules between facilities, what is to be expected of the inmate, and how long their sentence will be.  This needs to be done before the transfer so everyone involves knows what will happen.

Once an inmate transfers in or out, they are expected to do the sentence at the facility they are going to.  There will be no "Oops, I don't want this" and no "Gives-sees Back-sees".

If an inmate is unhappy with their choice to be transferred to AJDC, they need to serve their time and they will be released back to their original facility,

Should they absolutely not want to continue their time at AJDC, inform the inmate that transferring out will result in a permanent ban from AJDC.

If they insist on leaving the facility, a reasonable attempt will be made to contact their original facility.  Original facility will be expected to send someone to AJDC to pick up the inmate.

Should original facility refuse to accept the inmate, or is unable to send someone, remove the titler from the inmate, cuffs, etc and deposit them outside of AJDC with instructions to return to their home facility.  We will not be responsible for what happens to the inmate after that point.  Inmate will be banned from any further interaction with AJDC regardless.

For inmates that transferred out, and wish to return to AJDC, the other facility may apply their rules as they see fit for returning the inmate to us, and we will attempt to accommodate their rules as best as we can, including picking up the inmate from their facility.

However, once returned to AJDC, the inmate will be subjected to a disciplinary hearing to determine if more time is needed onto their sentence, or in cases of abuse of the transfer process, removal and ban from AJDC.

These rules can be overridden by prior agreements made with other facilities.
